Drawing Challenges

For this project, we had to do drawing challenges. Part 1 was to draw on an object, and then Part 2 was to select four additional works to create using different combinations made from lists of materials, processes, and themes. My first piece was an elephant made from paper, paint, and marbles. I cut out a shape of an elephant, which is one of my favorite animals. When I was in preschool, I learned a painting technique where I take marbles and dip them in paint, then I take a box and put the marbles in the box so they can roll around and spread the paint. So I taped my elephant cutout in the box and rolled the marbles around so that different colors of paint could create some cool effects on the paper. I loved how it turned out because it had a "Jackson Pollock" look to it. My next piece involved a large glass candleholder that I purchased at Michaels along with tissue paper, glue, and glitter. Rainbow Inflatables

1st Project of the semester in 4D Intermedia! In this project we were told to get into groups of 2 or 3 and create big inflatable objects that we would display around the Westmont campus. The materials that we were given included plastic tablecloths, tape, irons, and fans. The irons were to melt the plastic so that the tablecloths would hold together that inflatable shape, and the fans were used to blow air into the inflatable "tubes" so that they would hold their shapes. I was paired up with Sharon and Evelyn for this project and we had lots of ideas. We really wanted to create something that would make Westmont students be in awe as they walked around our beautiful campus, and we dreamed of making something that would be so colorful and exciting to see, as it is the beginning of the semester and new school year.
